The existing pavement on WIS 64 and several structures are showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:
- Removing 4.5 inches of the existing pavement and placing 4.5 inches of new asphalt pavement for the full travel lanes and paved shoulders
- Installing centerline rumble strips
- Completing girder and abutment repairs on the bridge over the west branch of the Little Black River, 0.75 mile east of Oriole Drive
- Replacing the wing wall on the culvert carrying Correction Creek under WIS 64 near Evergreen Cemetery
- Making concrete surface repairs on the culvert carrying Mink Creek under WIS 64 west of County C North
- Extending the ends on the culvert carrying a drainageway under WIS 64 0.3 mile east of Mink Drive
- Replacing culvert pipe east of Lemke Drive
- Completing work on additional culverts, including cleaning, regrading ditches to improve drainage and replacing structures
- Completing roadside clearing
- Replacing guardrail
- Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps between South 9th Street and One Weather Shield Plaza
- Replacing pavement markings
During construction, WIS 64 is expected to be closed to through traffic for two weeks – one week at each of the following:
- Culvert 0.33 mile east of Lemke Drive for culvert pipe replacement
- Traffic will be detoured via WIS 97, WIS 29 and WIS 107.
- Bridge over the west branch of the Little Black River for work on the structure
- Traffic will be detoured via WIS 13, WIS 29 and WIS 97.
Motorists will encounter shoulder closures at guardrail replacement locations during non-working hours; single-lane closures controlled by temporary traffic signals during work at the Mink Creek culvert and the drainageway 0.3 mile east of Mink Drive; and single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations during work hours for the remaining work on the project.
During curb ramp work, temporary accommodations will be made for pedestrians.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
