The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is developing plans for proposed improvements on 13 miles of US 151 in Fond du Lac County. The purpose of this website is to provide information regarding the proposed improvements, describe the potential impacts it would have on the community, and offer an opportunity for public comment.
Project location
US 151 from the South County Line in Waupun to Townline Road near Fond du Lac in Fond du Lac County.
Project purpose and need
The proposed work aims to address the pavement, which is showing signs of distress and deterioration. This project is needed to extend the service life and improve the driving surface. In addition, the work will improve drainage along the corridor, replace the aging guardrail, and help mitigate snow drifting onto the highway.
Anticipated benefits
Upon completion, the project will provide motorists with a smoother riding surface resulting in less wear on vehicles, while extending the life of pavement and reducing future maintenance costs. Further benefits include improving drainage throughout the corridor and improving the safety of drivers by installing living snow fences and updating guardrail systems.
Proposed improvements
This is a perpetuation-level project. Proposed improvements include:
Concrete repair and replacement of failing joints and slabs
Replace asphalt shoulders
Concrete pavement repair and asphalt mill and overlay at ramps to US 151
Adding an offset right turn lane at US 151 and County TC
Ditch Cleaning and grading at:
Median and northbound side from County Y overpass south to Seven Mile Creek bridge
Median and southbound side from mile marker 156 to mile marker 155
Northbound side from Dehring Road to Wolf Road
Culvert and endwall cleaning and repairs
Beamguard replacements on mainline and ramps
Replace three guardrail end terminals designed to redirect errant vehicles away from hazards
Living snow fences at specific locations
Living Snow Fence proposed locations:
Northbound on-ramp from Fond du Lac St. to US 151
Northbound side from County AS to Wolf Road
