Location
The Chippewa River Bridge on County D in the Rusk County town of Washington just north of the Chippewa County line.
Overview
Built in 1972, the bridge is showing signs of deterioration. To address that, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Remove and replace the existing concrete deck overlay on the bridge.
- Replace the structure’s expansion joints.
- Place new pavement markings.
- Complete minor roadway approach work to tie into structure improvements.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, County D over the Chippewa River will be closed to traffic.
- Detour route: County E to County M to WIS 27.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
