WIS 124 (County OO to Business 29), Lake Hallie to Chippewa Falls - Chippewa County

​​​mapThe Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing improvements for WIS 124 in Chippewa County.

Project location

  • WIS 124 - village of Lake Hallie to the city of Chippewa Falls (1500 feet north of County OO to 1300 feet south of Business 29) in Chippewa County.

Please note that the project schedule described in these documents has since changed. The current/new schedule is described below.

Schedule

​Construction currently is scheduled for 2031 but could be advanced if additional funding becomes available.​​

Proposed improvements​

The purpose of the project is to address the deterioration of the existing roadway and the substandard guardrail and curb ramps to maintain a safe and efficient transportation system. Improvements are listed below with specific locations included in the color-coded design improvement map.

  • Milling existing asphalt pavement and overlaying with new asphalt
  • Performing spot concrete pavement repairs at the intersections of Park Avenue and Woodward Avenue
  • Upgrading curb ramps, guardrail, and pavement markings
  • Regrading ditches at select locations
  • Pipe culvert lining at select locations​
  • Cleaning ditches at select locations

Real estate acquisition is not anticipated.

WIS 124 will remain open during construction with flagging operations and lane closures.

  • Very short term access restrictions may be required when crews pave in front of an access point. Property owners will be notified in advance of any restrictions affecting their access.
