Location
Black Bear Road north of Augusta north to the Eau Claire/Chippewa County line south of Cadott.
Overview
The asphalt pavement on WIS 27 between Black Bear Road and the north Eau Claire County line is deteriorating. To maximize its life, this project will:
- Recycle 3.5 inches of the existing asphalt pavement and overlay it with 2.75 inches of new asphalt pavement.
- Repair or replace deteriorated culvert pipes throughout the corridor, including the large concrete culvert at Darrow Creek between Scenic Drive and Berlin Road, which will be replaced.
- Replace or remove beam guard that does not meet current standards.
- Improve drainage at the WIS 27/County D intersection.
Schedule - Updated
Construction currently is scheduled for 2030 but could be advanced if funding becomes available.
Traffic Impacts
For road resurfacing:
- WIS 27 will remain open to traffic, and flagging operations will direct motorists through the work zone.
For culvert installation:
- WIS 27 will be detoured for approximately 45 days, but local access along WIS 27 will be maintained for residents and emergency responders.
- Trucks will be routed west of the project on US 12 to Altoona, US 53 to Lake Hallie and WIS 29 to Cadott.
- Cars will be routed west on County N, then north on County D to WIS 27.
