Location
This 5.45-mile project extends north from the Eau Claire/Chippewa County line to WIS 29 in Cadott.
Overview
The pavement on WIS 27 is showing signs of deterioration, resulting in a rough ride and ponding of water during rain events and snow melts. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
- Recycling the top 3.5 inches of pavement on the majority of the project corridor and overlaying it with asphalt.
- Resurfacing approximately 1,000 feet of asphalt pavement just south of WIS 29.
- Repairing the Paint Creek Bridge and substructure, adding approach pavement, milling the Paint Creek Bridge deck and applying a concrete overlay.
- Cleaning, repairing, removing or replacing culverts as needed.
- Adding centerline rumble strips.
- Upgrading guardrail.

Construction currently is scheduled for 2024.
Traffic Impacts
WIS 27 will remain open to through traffic throughout construction, but motorists can expect:
- Single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations during working hours.
- Single-lane closures controlled by temporary signals during work on Paint Creek Bridge.
