Project Overview
WisDOT is proposing to improve approximately 2 miles of US 18 (Bluemound Road) in Milwaukee County, from N. 106th Street to N. 66th Street. Project improvements include:
- Replace the top four inches of the existing asphalt pavement with new asphalt.
- New shared use path along southside of US 18 from WIS 100 to I-41.
- Replace traffic signal at N. 76th Street and US 18 Intersection.
- Curb ramp reconstruction and spot curb & gutter replacement.
- Add dedicated bike lanes from N. 106th Street to Glenview Avenue (WIS 181).
- Add loops at eight existing signalized intersection and add video detection at N. 68th Street and US 18 intersection.
- Bridge (B-40-988) concrete surface repair.
- Minor right of way acquisition for curb ramps is anticipated.

A public meeting was held on January 29, 2025 at the Zoofari Center in Milwaukee. The documents presented at the meeting can be found below:
Traffic Impacts
US 18 will remain open during construction. Outside lanes will be closed during curb ramp construction. Flagging operations are anticipated. Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.
Schedule
Construction is currently scheduled for 2028.
