I-43 Resurfacing (Oak Leaf Trail to Bender Road) - Milwaukee County

Location

Project Overview

The project will improve the I-43 North-South Freeway from the Oak Leaf Trail to Bender Road in Milwaukee County. This upcoming project segment of I-43 is located between WisDOT's recent I-43 URT project and the I-43 North-South project.

This is a pavement resurfacing project that will remove the existing asphalt pavement and replace it with five inches of new asphalt pavement. This will extend the service life of the existing roadway and improve the pavement condition. This project will include spot concrete repairs/replacement for the on/off ramps at the Silver Spring Drive interchange, signal reconstruction and curb ramp reconstruction at the I-43 northbound On/Off Ramp and Port Washington Road, and I-43 northbound Off Ramp/Bayshore parking lot and Port Washington Road, and structure maintenance improvements for various retaining walls and noise wall along I-43 southbound. The structure mounted portion of the noise wall will be replaced in-kind while the ground mounted portion will be rehabilitated.

Traffic Impacts

This project will have overnight lane closures for base patching and paving operations and long-term shoulder closures for noise wall replacement areas. Intermittent ramp closures will take place as needed. Closures of consecutive on-ramps or off-ramps will be avoided.

Schedule

Construction tentatively scheduled for 2025.
