US 61 and WIS 60 intersection, Boscobel - Crawford County
Project overview
Southwest Region (SWR) staff are preparing plans for a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) project at the west junction of WIS 60 and US 61 in Crawford County, across the Wisconsin River from Boscobel. The project includes the widening of pavement for providing an offset right turn lane for eastbound traffic on WIS 60 to allow for better visibility for traffic on northbound US 61 stopped at the intersection. The intent of this project is to address safety concerns by reducing number and severity of crashes through changes in roadway configuration. The work shall not extend beyond the existing right-of-way.
Proposed work includes:
- Widening of pavement
- Replacement of existing guardrail
- Grading behind the guardrail
- Installation of new pavement markings
- Potential extension of 2 culverts located along WIS 60
Schedule
- 2027 - Construction anticipated
Traffic impacts/detours
US 61 will remain open with a shoulder closure.
