WIS 16 (Dike Road to WIS 71), City of Sparta - Monroe County
Project overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is developing preliminary plans for a pavement replacement project on WIS 16. The 1-mile long project is located in the City of Sparta from Dike Road to just west of the WIS 71 roundabout.
- Replacing the mainline pavement with concrete
- Replacing the existing shoulders with asphalt
- Replacing guardrail at the corners of the WIS 16 bridge over Milwaukee Street/Canadian Pacific Railroad
- Maintenance repairs to the WIS 16 bridge over Milwaukee Street/Canadian Pacific Railroad
- Updating the pedestrian crossing ramps at the East Avenue intersection to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements as needed
- Replacing or repairing storm sewer

Traffic impacts/detours
WIS 16 is proposed to be closed and detoured utilizing WIS 27 and I-90. Access to residences and businesses will remain open.
