Governor Evers approves WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) resurfacing project in Pewaukee

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $9 million contract for improvements to WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) from WIS 16 to just west of Five Fields Road in the Village and City of Pewaukee, in Waukesha County. Work is scheduled to begin next week.

Project Improvements

  • Replace concrete pavement from WIS 16 to the Forest Grove Drive and George Towne Drive intersection.
  • Resurface the asphalt pavement for remainder of project limits.​
  • Upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet current ADA standards.
  • Replace traffic signals at five (5) existing intersections within the project limits.
  • ​Add traffic signals to improve WIS 16 westbound off-ramp intersection.

Traffic Impacts

  • WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) will remain open to a single lane in each direction during construction.
  • Long term ramp closures at WIS 16 are anticipated.
  • Access to local businesses and residents will be maintained.

Work is scheduled for completion in fall of 2024. Michels Corporation is the prime contractor, with work being weather-dependent and subject to change.
