Outside lane closures coming on US 53 in Chippewa County

Restrictions necessary to complete tree clearing ahead of coming construction

Release date: March 5, 2024

Motorists can expect to encounter single-lane closures on a section of US 53 beginning Monday, March 11 as a contractor completes tree cutting ahead of the start of a pavement replacement project from 40th Avenue in Lake Hallie to County B in the town of Tilden, all in Chippewa County.

The outside lane closures will be in place from the south side of the US 53/WIS 29 interchange to just slightly south of County Q, where it crosses US 53 north of the County B interchange. Work is expected to take a week to a week and a half to complete.

Construction on the multiyear pavement replacement project is expected to begin later this spring.
