Release date: March 8, 2024

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $2.2 million contract to reconstruct US 12 between North Sauk County Line and WIS 13 in the Wisconsin Dells in Sauk County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin March 11.

Gerke Excavating Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. The project will be constructed in two stages. Stage one will work between County A/Fitzgerald Road and WIS 13 and stage two will work between Sauk County line and County A. Improvements include pavement replacement, updated curb and gutter, sidewalk, centerline and shoulder rumble strips, and permanent signing.

During construction, US 12 will be closed to through traffic and detoured utilizing WIS 13 and I-90/94. Access across US 12 at the Fitzgerald Road/County A intersection will remain open.

Project completion is scheduled for mid-July. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
