Governor Evers approves WIS 241 project in Racine County

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Governor Evers has signed a $2.1 million contract for a project on WIS 241, from 8 Mile Road to Elm Road, in Racine County.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 18, 2024. Sheet Piling Services LLC is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:

Project Improvements​

  • Resurfacing pavement on WIS 241 by milling the existing asphalt and overlaying with new asphalt.
  • Removing and replacing the bridge deck of WIS 241 over the Root River.
  • Constructing an auxiliary lane with curb and gutter along westbound Elm Road.

Traffic Impacts

  • WIS 241 will be closed to through traffic from 7 Mile Road to Elm Road, from approximately mid-March to early fall.
    • A detour for northbound WIS 241 will be posted utilizing 7 Mile Road, to I-94/41, to WIS 100, to WIS 241.
    • A detour for southbound WIS 241 will be posted utilizing Elm Road, to I-94/41, to 7 Mile Road.
  • Elm Road will remain open to through traffic during the project.
  • Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.

Work is scheduled for completion in early fall of 2024, being weather-dependent and subject to change.
