Governor Evers approves WIS 33 improvements, Vernon County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $5.7 million contract to resurface WIS 33 between Kickapoo River bridge in Ontario and Hillsboro city limits in Vernon County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin March 27.

Mathy Construction Company is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to improve safety and traffic operations by resurfacing WIS 33 between Kickapoo River bride and Hillsboro city limits, replace guardrail and culvert cleaning.

During construction, WIS 33 will remain open to traffic under single lane closures and flagging operations.

Project completion is scheduled for early September. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.

A public information meeting will be held on March 20 to provide an overview of construction work, schedule, and traffic impacts. The meeting will be Wednesday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ontario Fire Station Conference Room, 205 State Street, Ontario.
