Southbound I-41 Traffic Switch in Zoo North Leg

Release date: April 6, 2023

As part of the Zoo Interchange North Leg project, WisDOT is notifying motorists of upcoming lane shifts along I-41 southbound. Beginning Thursday morning April 13, I-41 southbound traffic, between Burleigh Street and Watertown Plank Road, will be shifted to allow crews to construct the new southbound lanes. The current three-lane configuration in each direction remains in place.

As part of this traffic switch, the Burleigh Street entrance ramp to southbound I-41 will close through Fall 2023. Traffic is encouraged to use the following detour routes:

  • WIS 100 to Watertown Plank Road to I-41 South
  • 124th Street to Watertown Plank Road to I-41 South

Whether it’s in active work zones or routine daily commutes, motorists are reminded to drive safely, avoid distractions, and observe posted speed limits.

The Zoo Interchange North Leg project is scheduled to conclude in late 2023. All work is weather dependent and subject to change. For project information and updates, visit: Zoo Interchange Project – (511wi.gov)
