Governor Evers approves WIS 36 resurfacing and bridge project in Walworth County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $2.96 million improvement project along WIS 36, from WIS 120 in Springfield to WIS 11 in the town of Lyons, Walworth County. Payne and Dolan is the prime contractor for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin May 1.

Improvements include:

  • Reconstruction of bridge over Ore Creek
  • Resurfacing approximately 6 miles of WIS 36 within project limits
  • Polymer overlay improvements to WIS 36 bridge over WIS 11

Traffic Impacts:

  • WIS 36 will be closed to through traffic and detoured during construction.
    • Detour will utilize WIS 11, WIS 83, WIS 50, US 12, and WIS 120.
  • Flagging operations on White River State Trail under WIS 36 for bicycle and pedestrian traffic while bridge work is ongoing over the trail.
  • Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained.

Work is scheduled for completion in fall 2024. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
