Freight Advisory Committee brings industry stakeholders together

Release date: June 14, 2023

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) gathered industry leaders and other experts today to support efficient freight movement and plan steps that will help stakeholders who participate in the Wisconsin Freight Advisory Committee.

“The discussions that come from our Wisconsin Freight Advisory Committee help shape policy and plan infrastructure that will deliver an efficient network for businesses throughout the state,” WisDOT Secretary Craig Thompson said. “Thank you to all the panelists and participants in today’s session. We are eager to listen and continue advancing our common goals.”

The committee heard from freight related industries, discussed the State Freight Plan, explored opportunities to collaborate with Minnesota and hosted a panel and tabletop exercise about freight forwarders, which are companies that receive and ship goods on behalf of other companies.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation established the Freight Advisory Committee to help inform the department on issues that impact freight mobility and to provide a voice for the freight sector on the development of freight-related policies, processes and projects.
