Governor Evers approves WIS 122 improvements in Iron County

July 24, 2023

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $1.9 million contract to improve WIS 122, between West Mill Street and the Michigan State Line, in the town of Saxon.  Work is scheduled to begin July 31, 2023.

James Peterson Sons, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project.  Crews will replace culverts, pulverize the old roadway and overlay with new asphalt.

During construction, WIS 122 will be closed from West Mill Street to the north intersection of County B and detoured along County B. WIS 122 from the north intersection of County B to the Michigan State line will remain open during construction and flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the work zone.

Construction is scheduled to be complete October 2023. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
