Public involvement meeting set for WIS 13 project in Ashland County

​​Proposed work includes ​resurfacing, reconstructing or replacing pavement from Butterworth Road to U​​S 2

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to discuss a proposed pavement replacement project and other improvements on WIS 13 from Butterworth Road south of Ashland to US 2 (Lake Shore Drive) in the city of Ashland.

​The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, with a presentation at 5 p.m., in the Commons of Ashland Middle School, 203 11th St. E. Those attending should use the main entrance. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open-house format.

The objective of this meeting is to familiarize the public with the purpose and need for the project and obtain input on the proposed improvements. The project includes the following:

  • Resurface from Butterworth Road to 16th Street
  • Reconstruct 16th Street to 6th Street
  • Replace the pavement from 6th Street to US 2 (Lake Shore Drive)

Construction currently is scheduled for 2025.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the proposed improvements and provide input. There will be a variety of exhibits and maps available for review at the meeting, and representatives of WisDOT will be on hand to answer questions throughout the evening.

Ashland Middle School is wheelchair accessible. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Dickenson at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (dial 711).
