Governor Evers approves US 18 bridges project in Waukesha County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has signed a $6.1 million contract for a multi-year bridge replacement project along US 18 (Sunset Drive) in Waukesha County, from WIS 67 in the Village of Dousman to the Waukesha/Jefferson County line, west of County BB.

Work and closures will begin on Tuesday, September 5. Sheet Piling Services LLC is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:

2023 Project Improvements

  • US 18 Bark River bridge replacement west of Gramling Lane
  • Full closure scheduled for September 5 – late November 2023

2024 Project Improvements

  • US 18 Bark River bridge replacement east of S. Utica Road (Feb. 2024 – Late Spring 2024)
  • US 18 Bark River bridge replacement west of WIS 67 (Feb. 2024 – Late Spring 2024)
  • Pavement resurfacing along project limits
  • Guardrail replacement
  • New pavement markings, rumble strips, signing
  • Deck Replacement on eastbound US 18 (WIS 59) bridge over Fox River in City of Waukesha

Detours/Traffic Impacts

  • Detour during closures will utilize County BB to County DR, and WIS 67.
  • Local access will be maintained. Closed to through-traffic.
  • Access to businesses in work zone will be maintained.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in fall 2024. Work is weather dependent and subject to change.
