Governor Evers approves culvert replacement project on WIS 35

Old metal culvert system to be replaced in Pierce County project south of US 63

Release date: September 1, 2023

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $1.06 million contract with prime contractor A-1 Excavating of Bloomer for a culvert replacement project on WIS 35 just south of US 63 in the Pierce County unincorporated community of Hager City. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, Sept. 11.

The culvert system under WIS 35 has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:

  • Replace the existing metal culvert system with new concrete pipes, manholes, inlets and an apron end wall at the outlet.
  • Replace pavement in the work zone and guardrail.
  • Place new pavement markings.

During construction, WIS 35 and US 63 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures.

Construction is scheduled for completion in November.
