Pavement maintenance project planned on US 8 in Barron County

Portion of pavement in eastbound right wheel track to be removed and replaced

Release date: September 7, 2023

Maintenance crews from the Barron County Highway Department plan to remove a portion of the existing pavement on US 8 and place new pavement in the eastbound right wheel track, where rutting and potholes are especially pronounced. Work is scheduled to start Monday, Sept. 11 at the Barron/Rusk County line, also 30th Street, with crews working their way west to 27th Street.

US 8 will remain open to traffic, but motorists can expect lane closures controlled by flagging, which might result in travel delays. The work is expected to take about a week to complete.

The schedule is dependent on weather conditions and subject to change.
