The pavement on this 11-mile segment of WIS 48 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing to:

  • Remove a portion of the existing pavement and place new asphalt.
  • Upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA standards, where feasible.
  • Replace, complete repairs at or clean select culverts.
  • Replace guardrail and select signage.
  • Replace pavement markings and centerline rumble strips.

During construction, WIS 48 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging.

Construction currently is scheduled for 2028, but work could be advanced to 2026.
