Location
WIS 23, County A to the Fond du Lac County Line, Green Lake County
Project Overview
The existing pavement on WIS 23 is showing signs of distress in the form of low-level longitudinal and transverse cracking. These cracks may deteriorate further to become safety hazards, especially during weather events and contribute to continued accelerated pavement deterioration by allowing water to seep beneath the roadway surface. The purpose of this project is to address the existing roadway deficiencies and ensure the preservation of the roadway. The proposed improvements include resurfacing 4.7 miles of WIS 23, between County A and the Fond du Lac County line, by milling and overlaying the asphalt pavement.
Additionally, other project work includes:
- Reconstructing pedestrian curb ramps within the project limits to meet ADA standards.
- Replacing the existing guardrail at the bridge over the Puchyan River.
- Upgrading the traffic signal equipment at the intersection of WIS 23 and WIS 49/County to include a protected left turn only phase.
Traffic Impacts
WIS 23 will remain open during construction. Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures with flagging operations. Temporary pedestrian curb ramps will be installed to maintain pedestrian access to the shared use path. Access to property and businesses will be maintained during construction.
