Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to resurface WIS 57 (Green Bay Avenue) from Good Hope Road to Teutonia Avenue in Milwaukee County. This proposed project will address the deteriorating pavement condition and decreasing ride quality along WIS 57, the condition of multiple deteriorating cross culverts and drainage maintenance concerns, aging guardrail, and to improve pedestrian/bicycle connectivity.
Proposed Project Details
The project would mill off and remove the top four inches of the existing asphalt pavement and overlay the pavement with four inches of new asphalt from Good Hope Road to Teutonia Avenue. Additionally, the following improvements are being evaluated to include as part of the project:
- New sidewalk/path from Good Hope Road to Brown Deer Park.
- Sidewalk extension from Cedarburg Road to Teutonia Avenue.

- Two guardrail replacements.
- Culvert repair, replacements, and drainage improvements, as needed.
Minor right of way acquisition for curb ramp, guardrail, and drainage improvements are anticipated.
Tree clearing may be required for construction of shared-use path.
Traffic Impacts
Potential traffic impacts are currently being determined. The construction contractor will be required to maintain access to local businesses and property owners. Construction is currently scheduled for as early as 2026 if funding is available and is expected to last one construction season.
