WIS 44 bridge over the Fox River, northeast of Marcellon, in Columbia County
Project overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to replace the WIS 44 bridge over the Fox River located in Columbia County.
Proposed project details:
- Replace twin 12-foot x 7.5-foot culvert pipes with a 70-foot 2-span flat slab bridge
- Replace roadway pavement 500 feet on each side of the structure
- Raise the roadway profile approximately one foot
- Replace and upgrade the guardrail
- Right of way acquisition may be required

- 2026 - Construction anticipated
Traffic impacts/detours
- WIS 44 will be closed and require a detour during construction.
- The detour route will include WIS 33, WIS 73, and WIS 44.
- Construction is anticipated to take approximately three months.
