Project location

WIS 33 (Wisconsin River to WIS 16), City of Portage - Columbia County

Project overview

The proposed project is a pavement replacement on WIS 33 (Cook St) between the Wisconsin River and WIS 16 in the City of Portage. The purpose of this project is to replace the deteriorating asphalt surface on WIS 33. The existing pavement on WIS 33 is experiencing thermal and fatigue cracking, rutting, and has a poor ride quality. In addition, curb ramps in the project area are not up to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Full replacement of the pavement base and paving with hot mix asphalt (HMA).
  • Upgrading curb ramps to meet ADA standards.
  • Addition of a left turn lane on eastbound WIS 33 onto Pierce Street.
  • Pavement marking
