Video transcript, US 41/Mason Street interchange

From a driver's perspective, experience how to drive through a series of multi-lane roundabouts. Even though this particular simulation is from the Mason Street interchange in Brown County, you will see that it is very important to choose your lane prior to entering any multi-lane roundabout to ensure you get to your destination.

US 41/Mason Street interchange roundabout, southbound (00:02:43)

This video will show you how to drive through a series of multi lane roundabouts. The driver is taking the Mason Street exit from southbound Highway 41 and will turn left onto Mason Street to go into the City.

Similar to signalized intersections, you need to select your lane prior to entering the intersection. Slow down before the roundabout and pay attention to the overhead signing which directs you to the correct lane. You could be in the left or middle lane to go east on Mason Street.

As you approach the roundabout, yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Yield to traffic in all lanes to your left in the roundabout. When a safe gap is present, enter the roundabout. Stay in your lane and move counterclockwise around the central island.

As you approach the next roundabout, choose your lane. The overhead sign shows that you can be in either lane to continue east on Mason Street toward the City.

Yield to all traffic on your left in the roundabout. When a safe gap is present, enter the roundabout and stay in your lane as you maneuver through the roundabout.

As you approach the next roundabout, choose your lane. The overhead sign shows that you can be in either lane to continue east on Mason Street toward the City.

As you approach the roundabout, yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Yield to traffic in all lanes to your left in the roundabout. When a safe gap is present, enter the roundabout and stay in your lane as you maneuver through the roundabout.

As you exit the roundabout, again, yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
