Project schedule

Construction is scheduled for the 2023 and 2024 construction years.

Traffic impacts

Full closures, lane closures, and flagging operations will be utilized at various times during construction. Construction will be staged in a manner to minimize traffic disruptions. Access to businesses and property owners will always be maintained. Tentative impacts are as follows:

  • The west leg of US 45/WIS 76/WIS 22 will be closed for intersection improvements. WIS 22 will be detoured for 45 days in 2024.
    • The detour route will utilize County T and County O.
  • WIS 76 will be detoured for the culvert, paving and structure replacement work in 2023 and 2024.
    • Work will be conducted in two stages utilizing two detour routes in order to minimize traffic disruption.
      • The detour will follow WIS 54 and US 45.
  • Traffic control in the form of flagging operations will be used to close one lane at a time in portions of the work zone.
  • Businesses affected by the detours are urged to use the resources noted below for businesses in work zones.

In This Together program for businesses and temporary business signing

WisDOT recognizes businesses located in work zones have special needs. It’s critical that customers have access to businesses and that they continue to visit them, regardless of any road work inconvenience. WisDOT's In This Together program is offered to business and community leaders as an idea source as they plan for road construction in their area. On the In This Together website, businesses can find:

  • Specially designed workbook for businesses to succeed during a highway construction project, includes information on:
    • Planning ahead
    • Staying informed
    • Keeping customers informed
    • Tips for businesses
  • Case studies that demonstrate techniques that have been successfully used in communities throughout Wisconsin.
  • Promotional samples showing various examples of how businesses have promoted their businesses during construction.

During construction, temporary signing for business will be available. More information on temporary business signing can be found on the In This Together website. While signing and other marketing/advertising during the construction is up to the business, WisDOT encourages businesses to use the resources above to assist them with planning for construction before the construction begins.
