WisDOT Truck Parking StudyWisDOT has been conducting a comprehensive study of truck parking needs in Wisconsin. This study reflects growing national and state concerns over lack of legal parking options, which can lead to unsafe truck parking situations.
Critical to the study was a set of stakeholder surveys for drivers, trucking companies, and truck stop operators that, when combined, helped identify where truck parking was most needed and what factors were most important when drivers looked for parking.
In addition to these surveys, the study will use large datasets to identify locations where trucks are currently parking. Results from these efforts will help inform WisDOT to identify locations with the greatest needs for additional parking.
WisDOT expects the study to conclude in summer 2026.
