I-94 Corridor Study (Red Cedar River to WIS 29), town of Red Cedar to town of Elk Mound) - Dunn County

Location

I-94, Red Cedar River to WIS 29 in Menomonie, Dunn County.

Overview

The purpose of officially mapping this corridor was to preserve future right-of-way needs for the future reconstruction of I-94 and its interchange at US 12/WIS 29 in Dunn County.

I-94 is the main east/west multi-lane interstate corridor through the state. It is part of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Corridors 2030 Plan and connects major economic centers in the state, which are tied to the national transportation network. WIS 29 is also a multi-lane backbone highway providing connectivity to major economic/population centers from I-94 east to Green Bay.

Creating an official map of this 8.5-mile stretch of I-94 under Wisconsin statute 84.295 (10) preserved the viability of the interstate corridor. Planning and design work started in 2009, but currently, there are no plans to reconstruct this segment.
