WisDOT is proposing to resurface 4.4 miles of WIS 181 (76th Street), from Florist Avenue to County Line Road, in the City of Milwaukee.
Asphalt surfaces have a typical service life of 8 to 12 years, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The last resurfacing project completed on this section of WIS 181 was in 2008. The existing asphaltic pavement is showing signs of fatigue and failure. The asphalt surface is reaching the end of its service life.
As part of this project, the number of travel lanes in each direction will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes between Brown Deer Road and Calumet Road.
- Roadway resurfacing
- Pedestrian safety enhancements
- New sidewalk installations
- Updated curb ramps
- Updated traffic signals
WisDOT public involvement activities are designed to effectively involve the public early and often in the process so that project decisions made are in the best overall interest.
Below you will find public outreach materials pertaining to this project that were presented at a public meeting held July 18, 2023. Anyone interested in the project is encouraged to review project details, ask questions and provide comments that will assist WisDOT during the project’s design and construction. Please note large files may take a moment to open.
Work will be completed under single-lane closures in each direction. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.
Construction is scheduled for 2026
