County I between the ramps at the US 53 interchange to be closed March 10 and 11
Release date: March 6, 2026
Setting temporary supports will result in the overnight closure of County I under US 53 near Chetek in Barron County.
County I between the US 53 interchange ramps is set to be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 to Wednesday, March 11 and March 11 to Thursday, March 12.
All ramps at the US 53/County I interchange will remain open to traffic. However, traffic movements will be limited because of the closure of County I under the south- and northbound US 53 bridges.
Construction on the second year of a two-year project rehabilitating seven bridges and replacing another on southbound US 53 between Cameron and New Auburn began Feb. 23. Work in 2026 includes replacing the southbound US 53 bridge over County I and replacing the decks on the southbound US 53 bridges over the Chetek River and 20th Street.
