Except as otherwise provided by law, any requester has a right to inspect any record.

Wisconsin State Patrol record coordinators respond to more than 15,000 public records requests every year. Request fulfillment times vary by post and may take 4-6 weeks. Audio and video requests may take longer. Records may include redacted personally identifiable information. Record requests are reviewed and fulfilled based on the requirements of the law and balancing test. Records involving ongoing investigations may not be released.
