Governor Evers approves US 51 improvements in Oneida County

For release: March 11

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $1.2 million contract to improve US 51, between the Lake Minocqua Bridge and Front Street, in the town of Minocqua. Work is scheduled to begin March 30, 2026.

Chippewa Concrete Services is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will repair deteriorating concrete pavement, reconstruct pedestrian curb ramps and replace pavement markings.

In addition, a construction information meeting will be held Monday, March 23 at 6 pm at the Minocqua Public Library, 415 Menominee St.

During construction, US 51 will have a minimum of one lane open to traffic in each direction. Access will be maintained to businesses and residences at all times.

Construction is scheduled for completion by October 2026. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
