Construction runs from Cumberland north to the Washburn County line
Release date: March 31, 2026
To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed $4.64 million contract with prime contractor Monarch Paving Co. of Amery for a resurfacing project on US 63 from Charrie Lane north to the Washburn County line. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, April 13.
This segment of US 63 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
- Removing a portion of the existing pavement and paving new asphalt
- Installing centerline and edge line rumble strips
- Cleaning or repairing culverts
- Reconstructing sidewalk curb ramps to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance
- Placing new pavement markings
During construction, US 63 will remain open, but motorists will encounter daytime single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations. In addition, temporary driveway closures will be necessary to complete construction, but property owners will be notified in advance of such a closure.
Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-June.
