Public meeting scheduled for WIS 131 project in Vernon County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements on WIS 131 from US 14 in Readstown to WIS 56 in Viola, Vernon County. Construction is anticipated in 2030.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Viola Community Center, 118 W Commercial Street, Viola. The objective of this meeting is to familiarize the public with the purpose and need for the project and to obtain input on the proposed improvements.

The purpose of this project is to address pavement and structure conditions along 7.5 miles of WIS 131. Improvements include resurfacing the current asphalt pavement, updated curb ramps, repairs to two bridges and flattening the curve south of Kickapoo High School.
