Governor Evers approves US 12 bridge rehab project

Crews to replace deck on structure over CNW railroad tracks west of Roberts

Release date: April 7, 2026

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $1.24 million project rehabilitating the bridge that carries US 12 over the CNW railroad bridge west of Roberts in St. Croix County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, April 13, with bridge closure expected around 8 a.m.

Built in 1980, the bridge needs rehabilitation. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project includes:

  • Replacing the concrete bridge deck
  • Making concrete surface repairs at the abutments and girders
  • Replacing the steel bearings at the east abutment
  • Replacing the east abutment expansion joint
  • Replacing the southwest wing wall top
  • Replacing concrete pavement approach slabs and about 100 feet of roadway approaches
  • Placing new pavement markings

During construction, US 12 will be closed to through traffic at the bridge for the duration of work.

Through traffic will be detoured via WIS 65 and I-94.

Local traffic would be maintained on the east and west sides of the bridge.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late June.
