Release date: April 30, 2026

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $7,969,694 contract to resurface the pavement along WIS 171 between WIS 27 in Mt Sterling and US 61 in Rolling Ground, Crawford County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin May 4, 2026.

Iverson Construction is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to treat deteriorated pavement with a mill and overlay of the existing pavement. Additional improvements include updated curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards, addition of curb and gutter in the project’s rural sections, culvert replacement and updated of guardrail.

During construction, WIS 171 will remain open to traffic with temporary lane closures. During culvert replacement work and paving, WIS 171 will be closed and detoured utilizing WIS 27, US 14 and US 61.

Project completion is scheduled for late August 2026. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
