Wisconsin State Patrol Northeast Region Post now located in new Wrightstown facility

Release date: June 5, 2026

Following a year of construction, the Wisconsin State Patrol Northeast Region Post recently relocated its operations from Fond du Lac to a new building in Wrightstown, providing the statewide law enforcement organization with a modernized facility and improved location to better serve the traveling public in northeast Wisconsin.

The new location combines region post operations with a state-of-the-art Safety and Weight Enforcement Facility (SWEF). With a central location directly along I-41 northbound near the County U interchange in Outagamie County, the new facility allows easy access for visitors, travelers and staff.

The Wisconsin State Patrol has been anticipating the relocation from its former Fond du Lac facility, which has served as the Northeast Region Post since the 1970s. Originally constructed as an emergency facility during the Cold War, the building had 18-inch concrete walls and a sleeping area to hold 35 people. Over time, the Wisconsin State Patrol repurposed the facility to meet its operational needs.

The move to Wrightstown provides opportunity to modernize SWEF operations with a virtual weigh-in-motion station and two commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspection bays. The virtual weigh-in-motion stations will improve efficiency at the scale by sorting CMVs as they approach the SWEF, helping keep commerce and traffic moving. Two new climate-controlled inspection bays with service pits will allow inspectors to safely access and walk under the vehicle, improving inspection efficiency and enabling operations in all weather conditions.

The Wisconsin State Patrol Northeast Region communication center is located in the new building, providing dispatch operations to the area. The facility also features training space, administrative offices, radio technician support and customer service operations. While geothermal heating and cooling improve energy efficiency.

Although staff have moved into the Wrightstown facility, the location remains under construction. Tours will be available by request once the I-41 road construction project is complete, allowing full operation of the SWEF.
