To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $7.8 million contract to replace the pavement along WIS 82 between Kickapoo River in La Farge and WIS 33 in Hillsboro, Vernon County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin June 15.
Mathey Construction Company is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to improve 16 miles of WIS 82 pavement. This project will also replace the WIS 82 bridge deck over the Kickapoo River, replace guardrail, update curb ramps to meeting ADA standards and replace one culvert.
Impacts to traffic during construction:
- WIS 82 between the Kickapoo River and WIS 131 will remain open to traffic under flagging operations
- WIS 82 between WIS 131 and WIS 33 will be closed to through traffic and detoured utilizing WIS 131, WIS 56 and WIS 80
Project completion is scheduled for November 2026. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
