Governor Evers approves US 10/WIS 25 North roundabout project

Single-lane roundabout planned to reduce crashes at the Pepin County intersection

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $2.62 million contract with prime contractor Mattison Contractors, Inc. of Knapp for a safety improvement project on US 10 at WIS 25 North west of Durand in Pepin County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, July 6.

This intersection has experienced operational issues and a trend of injury angle crashes over the past few years. To reduce the number of crashes at the intersection, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing:

• Constructing a single-lane roundabout at the intersection
• Installing curb, gutter and splitter islands approaching the roundabout
• Replacing culverts and storm sewer
• Installing lighting

US 10 and WIS 25 North will remain open to two-way traffic with temporary widening and staged construction. Motorists will encounter shoulder closures and flagging operations at times. Access to businesses and residences in the work zone will be maintained.

Construction is scheduled for completion in early November.
