Project from WIS 70 East to WIS 40 includes culvert, curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm sewer work
Release date: June 30, 2026
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share details about a proposed improvement project on WIS 27 from WIS 70 East in Ojibwa to WIS 40 in Radisson, all in Sawyer County.
- When: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 13
- A short presentation is planned at 6:30 p.m.
- Where: Radisson Village Hall, 10598 W. Railroad St.
The pavement on this section of WIS 27 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:
- Milling a portion of the existing pavement surface, pulverizing the remaining asphalt, mixing the material with the existing gravel base and stabilizing agents to provide a reclaimed base layer and placing hot-mix asphalt over the roadway
- Replacing curb, gutter, sidewalk curb ramps and storm sewer in the urban portion of the project
- Replacing a large culvert on Hemlock Spur Creek with a box culvert
- Repairing, replacing or adjusting culverts and guardrail in the rural segment
During construction, WIS 27 will be closed, and through traffic will be detoured via WIS 40, County D and WIS 27. Access will be maintained to homes and businesses in the project limits.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2029.
Information about the project can be found on its website, including a comment form. Comments on the project are being accepted through Thursday, Aug. 13.
