Chippewa County roundabout at WIS 124 and County S to close

Closure necessary to resurface roundabout, replace central truck apron

Construction on a $2.68 million resurfacing project – paused for several weeks – on WIS 124 from the Duncan Creek Bridge in Chippewa Falls to County S in the town of Eagle Point is set to resume Monday, July 20.

That same day, the roundabout at WIS 124 and County S is scheduled to close to traffic at 6 a.m., so crews can resurface the roundabout and replace the central truck apron. The roundabout is anticipated to be closed for 17 working days.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Business 29 (West River Street), US 53 and County B.

Construction on the resurfacing project began in mid-April, and work included:

• Milling off a portion of the pavement and placing new asphalt pavement
• Replacing joints on the Duncan Creek Bridge
• Replacing culverts
• Cleaning ditches
• Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps
• Replacing pavement markings
