Three wholesale dealer licenses revoked for odometer and title fraud

Release date: July 15, 2024

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) revoked the wholesale dealer licenses of these Columbia County dealers, located at 101 Skyline Drive, Arlington, for rolling back odometers on vehicles sold to customers, falsifying title documents when selling vehicles to customers, and selling vehicles directly to retail customers:

  • A1 Alpha Motors, LLC

  • Signature Auto Group, Inc.

  • VIP Autos, LLC

After an investigation, DMV’s Dealer and Agent Section determined that each dealer listed above violated state law. Due to the nature of the violations, the department took immediate action revoking each license effective May 22, 2024. The decision to revoke Signature Auto Group’s license was upheld at a WisDOT hearing on June 13, 2024. The decision to revoke A1 Alpha Motors’ and VIP Auto’s license was also upheld at a separate WisDOT hearing on June 14, 2024. Dealers are given 30 days to appeal a revocation. Neither wholesale dealer sought an appeal and the decisions are final.

WisDOT’s Dealer and Agent Section licenses, regulates, and offers training to dealers. In addition, this special unit protects consumers (wisconsindmv.gov/dealercomplaint) by investigating complaints and resolving disputes about dealership sales and warranty repairs. It also investigates complaints about odometer tampering and title fraud involving dealerships and private sellers.
