Nighttime lane closures coming on westbound I-94 in Hudson

Overnight lane closures necessary to safely repair concrete pavement

To ensure the safety of motorists and workers, westbound I-94 in Hudson will be reduced to a single lane east of the Carmichael Road interchange (exit 2) for four nights the week of July 20 to complete concrete patching between the Carmichael interchange and the St. Croix River Bridge.

The lane closures – scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. – start Monday night and continue until Friday morning. The pavement repair work also will result in the closure of the ramp to WIS 35 North (exit 1) from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Currently, westbound I-94 traffic is restricted to two lanes of traffic beginning at the 11th Street overpass, with one lane eventually using the eastbound bridge to cross the St. Croix River and one lane using the westbound bridge.

Construction on a project rehabilitating the east- and westbound I-94 bridges over the St. Croix River began in early April, with work starting on the westbound bridge. Traffic is expected to be switched the week of July 27, so construction on the eastbound structure can begin.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in late October.
