Construction includes replacing two culverts between Abbotsford and Dorchester

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $1.56 million contract with prime contractor A-1 Excavating of Bloomer for a project replacing two culverts that carry Porky Creek under WIS 13 between Abbotsford and Dorchester in Clark County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, July 27.
Placed in 1981, both culverts have reached the end of their service lives. To address this, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) project is:
- Replacing the existing sets of culvert structures at each site
- The northern culvert is approximately 0.3 mile north of Holton and Pine roads south of Dorchester, and the southern culvert is about 300 feet north of Wuertzburg and Willow roads north of Abbotsford.
- The northern culvert will be replaced by three elliptical concrete pipes, and the southern culvert will be replaced with a twin-cell concrete box culvert.
- The contractor plans to replace the northern culvert first.
- Grading each site
- Placing new pavement on WIS 13 at the replacement sites
During construction, WIS 13 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by temporary traffic signals.
Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-October.
