Release date: July 28, 2026
To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed an $893,000 contract with prime contractor Janke General Contractors, Inc. of Athens for a project rehabilitating the bridge that carries WIS 13 over the Little Black River south of Medford in the Taylor County town of Little Black. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, Aug. 3.
Built in 1968, the bridge needs maintenance. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) project is:
- Replacing the bridge deck
- Making repairs to concrete bridge girders, bridge abutments and the center pier
- Adding concrete approach slabs
- Completing approach work
- Upgrading guardrail
- Completing shoulder work
- Adding pavement markings
During construction, WIS 13 will be closed, and through traffic will be detoured via WIS 29, WIS 97 and WIS 64. Access to properties in the work zone will be maintained.
Construction is scheduled for completion in early October.
