Proposed work includes repairing concrete pavement between WIS 35 North and US 12

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share details about an improvement project on I-94 from the north junction of WIS 35 in Hudson east to US 12 in the town of Hudson and obtain public input.
- When: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16
- A brief presentation is set for 5:45 p.m.
- Where: Hudson Fire Department, 2121 Ward Ave.
The pavement on this segment of I-94 is in distress. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:
- Repairing the existing concrete pavement on I-94 and the ramps at the WIS 35 North, Carmichael Road, WIS 35 South and US 12 interchanges
- Milling and overlaying parts of the shoulders
- Cleaning and repairing culverts to improve drainage
- Cleaning and repairing a detention pond
- Replacing guardrail to meet current WisDOT standards
- Replacing the curb ramps at Carmichael Road to meet Americans With Disabilities Act standards
During construction, I-94 will remain open, but motorists will encounter:
- Short-term lane closures during off-peak travel times for pavement repair and asphalt paving
- Single-lane daytime closures during guardrail work
- During this work, temporary concrete barrier will be placed along lane closures to protect motorists and construction workers where space for repairs is restricted.
- Detours during pavement repair and asphalt shoulder paving on interchange ramps
- Single-lane closures on Carmichael Road and US 12
- Reduced speed limits in the work zone
In addition, temporary pedestrian accommodations will be provided during curb ramp replacement on Carmichael Road.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2029.
